The robust Quad Band Telit GM862 GSM/GPRS module is ideally suited for industrial data transmission applications in small to medium volumes.

The GM862 is a Quad Band GPRS module (Class 10)
offering among others an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack and a serial multiplexer to extend the functionality of the application at no additional cost.

The GM862-PY offers the possibility to run the customer's PYTHON application inside the module. A wide range of I/Os and the extended operating temperature range are only some of the highlights of the GM862. For applications where GPS should be integrated as well there is a special variant with the GM862-GPS (see below).

All Telit modules support the Over-the-Air firmware update via GPRS. Especially for applications which are installed around the world this is a very big advantage as in case of a necessary firmware update it is not necessary to collect the devices first or to do the update on-site. Telit is using a technology for the update which has been proven in the mobile handset market for millions of cellular telephones. During the update only a delta file, representing the difference between the old and the new firmware version, will be transmitted.

GM862-GPS

With the GM862-GPS there is a variant offering an additional GPS-module inside the same form factor of the GM862. The only difference is that the GM862-GPS has a second MMCX antenna connector for the GPS antenna.
The new GPS receiver has a low power consumption and is very sensitive so that a localisation inside buildings can be possible under certain circumstances. Together with the Python™ application development environment you get a very cost effective and feature rich platform quite capable of becoming the total solution for the complete customer application. Additional features including jamming detection, integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, and Easy Scan®  offer unmatched benefits to the application developer without adding cost.
