The compact Quad Band Telit GE863 BGA GSM/GPRS module is ideally suited for industrial data transmission applications which focus on cost optimisation and sophisticated functionality at the same time.

The GE863 is a Quad Band GPRS module (Class 10)
offering among others an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack and a serial multiplexer to extend the functionality of the application at no additional cost.

The GE863-PY offers the possibility to run the customer's PYTHON application inside the module. A wide range of I/Os and the extended operating temperature range are only some of the highlights of the GE863. For applications where GPS should be integrated as well there is a special variant with the GE863-GPS (see below).

All Telit modules support the Over-the-Air firmware update via GPRS. Especially for applications which are installed around the world this is a very big advantage as in case of a necessary firmware update it is not necessary to collect the devices first or to do the update on-site. Telit is using a technology for the update which has been proven in the mobile handset market for millions of cellular telephones. During the update only a delta file, representing the difference between the old and the new firmware version, will be transmitted.

GE863-GPS

With the GE863-GPS there is a variant offering an additional GPS-module inside the same form factor of the GE863.
The new GPS receiver has a low power consumption and is very sensitive so that a localisation inside buildings can be possible under certain circumstances. Together with the Python™ application development environment you get a very cost effective and feature rich platform quite capable of becoming the total solution for the complete customer application. Additional features including jamming detection, integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, and Easy Scan®  offer unmatched benefits to the application developer without adding cost.

 

 

 

GE863-PRO³

The GE863-PRO³ is a BGA module which includes a powerful ARM9™ processor core exclusively dedicated to customer applications. The GE863-PRO³ is available in different versions regarding memory size and operating system (with/without Linux).

With its low profile design, dedicated 8/64 MB SDRAM, 4 MB serial flash, and its extended programming capabilities in C++, the Telit GE863-PRO³ is the ideal hardware platform for complete and compact customer solutions.

The GE863-PRO³ was designed to simplify connectivity through the availability of interfaces such as SPI, IIC, SD/MMC and USB (Host/Device). Telit offers a vast collection of reference designs enabling use of the PRO³ with external peripherals such as camera, keyboard, display, Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth®, SmartCard, SD Card, Ethernet, ZigBee® and GPS. With the use of LINUX (optional), developers have access to an extensive library of drivers for different peripherals and to complete development environments.
